Join us for a hands-on workshop "Using Microscopes to Explore the Soil Web of Life with Dr. Elaine Ingham" at Mary Institute Country Day School (MICDS) on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 3–5:30 p.m. for teachers and educators only (all others should sign up to be added to the waitlist). Free of charge. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. Hosted by MICDS, Academy of Science of St. Louis, BiodiverseCity St. Louis, the Experiential Education Exchange, and Deer Creek Watershed Alliance. Funded by the Holton Family, Mabel Dorn Reeder Foundation, and US EPA Region 7 through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (subgrant number G14-NPS-04), under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act.

If you attend, you will learn how to use microscopes to explore with Dr. Elaine Ingham some of the following questions:

• What organisms are present in the soil and/or on the foliage of your plants?
• Which organisms are beneficial and which ones are harmful to plants?   

Behind Dr. Ingham's user-friendly approach lies a wealth of knowledge gained from years of research into the organisms which make up the soil food web. Her goal is to translate this knowledge into actions that ensure a healthy food web that promotes healthy plant growth.

Note, this workshop will be held at MICDS in Room 202A in the new McDonnell Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Facility. Click here for detailed directions on where to park, etc. There will be directional signs on site as well.
