Join Dr. Elaine Ingham as she speaks on how to grow healthy plants while improving infiltration rates in your soil, and improving water quality in our local streams. For landscaping and gardening enthusiasts, addressing scales of property from backyards to municipal holdings to corporate and institutional campuses. Presentation and reception held at Mary Institute and Country Day School (MICDS). Free of charge. Pre-registration is required. Hosted by Deer Creek Watershed Alliance, BiodiverseCity St. Louis, Academy of Science of St. Louis, and MICDS. Funded by the Holton Family, Mabel Dorn Reeder Foundation, and US EPA Region 7 through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (subgrant number G14-NPS-04), under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act.

You will learn about:

• What organisms are present in the soil and on the foliage of your plants.
• How these organisms can be managed to grow healthy plants and minimize weed growth with the least expensive inputs into the system.
• How and why to reverse soil compaction, reduce soil erosion and improve infiltration rates on your property.  

Behind Dr. Ingham's user-friendly approach lies a wealth of knowledge gained from years of research into the organisms which make up the soil web of life.  Her goal is to translate this knowledge into actions that ensure a healthy food web that promotes healthy plant growth.
